'THE LATEST RIVER POACHING DODGE - it is stated that the latest device resorted to by river poachers is as follows: They secure a live cat which is partly enveloped in a bandage to which are attached two strings. One of these is held by a person on both sides of the river, whereby the animal is kept in the centre of the stream, and no sooner is it seen by the fish than they run to the sides, when they are caught by parties waiting for the purpose.'
